Our Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees range from $75 to $225. Our adoption fees help to offset the cost of evaluation, housing, feeding and medical care for the many animals that need our help. We do our best to keep our adoption prices reasonable while generating income to help support our animals until we can place them in a loving forever home.

Puppies and Dogs

Adult Dogs – $165
Senior Dogs (over 8) – $115
Puppies (under 6 months) – $225
*A Mesa County License must be purchased when adopting a dog (unless the adopter is from another county). The fee for the license is not included in the adoption fee, but is a requirement for adoption. The fee for a 1-year license is $10 and $25 for a 3-year license. The license you purchase is dependent upon whether or not the dog has a one or three-year rabies vaccination.

If an animal is released to an adopter unaltered, a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required at the time of adoption. Refunds are given following the completion of the spay/neuter surgery.

Kittens and Cats

Kittens – $125
Adult Cats – $90
Senior Cats (over 8) – $75

If an animal is released to an adopter unaltered, a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit is required at the time of adoption. Refunds are given following the completion of the spay/neuter surgery.

Dogs: We receive dogs on a daily basis and regularly transfer animals in from other shelters and rescues. Each dog goes through a short period of observation and must also undergo a medical evaluation and behavior assessment before being made available for adoption. Additionally, many dogs are on hold while we work to correct behavior problems and/or treat medical conditions. These animals do not appear on this page until they are deemed ready for adoption. Please check our website frequently to see our Available Dogs, as they change daily.

Cats & Kittens: are received and adopted on a daily basis. If you see a cat of interest, please call the shelter or e-mail us to make sure he or she is still available. Please check our website frequently to see our Available Cats and Kittens, as they change daily.
