First Friday Art Adoption Reception
April 1, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeJoin us for First Friday on April 1 from 5:30-7:00pm to see the beautiful and moving installation by local artist Cathey Pabst in benefit of Roice-Hurst Humane Society. Her unique collage pieces represent shelter animals that need a little extra love and a forever home. Each piece will be up for “adoption” through the RHHS website, and each art adoption will subsidize the cost of an adoption through our shelter for senior citizens and veterans in our valley. The installation will be on display at City Hall through June 2016 and “adopters” will be able to pick up their pieces at the end of that month.
Artist Cathey Pabst is a member of the National Collage Society and was juried into their 2008 and 2011 national shows. She also a member of the Rocky Mountain Collage Society, taking third place in their 2008 show and honorable mention in the 2011 show. Her image, “Boy in a White Shirt” was chosen for the National Collage Society’s 2012 Calendar. Also in 2012, her piece, “How Do You Get to Wonderland?”, was purchased by the Grand Junction Commission on the Arts and Culture as the annual business award for the City’s Champion of the Arts Award. She has also had work published in both the Grand Valley Magazine and the Palette Magazine. “I enjoy the process of collage – the breaking down of the images into basic forms and then rebuilding them in a different way.” “The Dogs of City Hall,” a fundraiser for Roice-Hurst Human Society, is now on display at Grand Junction City Hall through June, 2016.
