Outside of the office, Zebulon enjoys learning and teaching about local history, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with his wife, son, and adorable golden retriever, Zephyr.
Coraline
Cat Executive Officer
Coraline was adopted by the team in 2015 after she was found protecting her litter of kittens near an oil field, eating rabbits to stay alive and suffering frostbite on the tips of her ears. Even back then, Coraline’s innate leadership skills were clear, and now she is the boss of the shelter! Coraline’s duties include quality control of all boxes that come into the shelter, providing exemplary customer service, and acting as an ambassador for office cats everywhere.
Leigh Ashman & Rune
Resource Advancement Officer
Leigh Ashman views joining the Roice-Hurst team as a dream come true. After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, she sharpened her skills in a variety of areas, all of which led her to this. Leigh believes strongly in the power of both collaboration and prevention and loves Roice-Hurst for its work as an animal resource center. Our mission aligns with her core values of service, integrity, kindness, and creativity. A long-time Grand Junction resident, Leigh enjoys travel, scuba diving, camping, embarking on ridiculous projects/adventures, and generally spending time with her husband. When she’s not doing any of that, you’ll find her enjoying art (both creating and viewing), spending time with family and friends, and watching Formula 1. Leigh has shared her heart with a long line of beloved dogs, including the current crew of rescues Sita Bo Beeta Esmarita Esmerelda, Esq. III ™ and Hank.
Keira Auld & Boba

After relocating to Grand Junction, Keira continued her work in the nonprofit sector managing community impact programs and grant portfolios, and later served in local government directing affordable housing initiatives. Keira is passionate about building systems that help people and pets thrive. Outside of work, she can be found car camping most weekends, bouldering, wandering thrift stores, or chasing quiet moments under the stars, always happiest when she’s exploring nature and living a little off the beaten path.
