60 Years of Transforming Lives
Thank you for supporting Roice-Hurst Humane Society at the 2023 Community Impact Council Breakfast!
We invite you to learn more about our programs and get involved.
Roice-Hurst Humane Society is a nonprofit animal shelter and adoption center based in Grand Junction, Colorado, that provides individualized enrichment, veterinary care, and adoption services for dogs and cats, as well as a variety of innovative support services for pet owners with a goal of keeping owned pets united with the people who love them. Roice-Hurst Humane Society also partners with the City of Delta and Delta County to operate a satellite facility in Delta, Colorado, to reunite lost dogs with their owners. Roice-Hurst Humane Society is proud to be a socially-conscious animal shelter that works diligently to match animals to their forever homes, however long that may take.
Roice-Hurst Humane Society is so much more than a shelter. Our goal is to not only find loving homes for pets — but to keep them there. We offer a variety of programs to help pets stay happy, healthy, and united with the families who love them.
When tough times hit and pet food and supplies just won’t fit in the budget, Roice-Hurst’s Pet Pantry helps keep pets fed and united with their families.
Low-Cost Pet Vaccination Clinics
Roice-Hurst provides low-cost pet vaccines and microchipping services, ensuring pets stay healthy and have the best chance of reuniting with their families if ever becoming lost.
Ready to add a member to the family? We have dozens of pets waiting eagerly to come home with you! As a socially conscious shelter, we work hard to match pets with loving homes, however long that may take.
When a crisis threatens to sever the bond between people and their beloved pets, Roice-Hurst provides crisis pet boarding for up to 30 days while the family gets back on their feet.
Roice-Hurst offers partial vouchers to cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery for owned cats and dogs when pet owners cannot cover the full cost of surgery.
Making the decision to rehome a pet is difficult and heartbreaking. When it’s necessary for a pet to find a new family, we are here to help with empathy and support.
In an innovative collaboration with HomewardBound of the Grand Valley, Homeward Hounds provides dignified temporary housing for people experiencing homelessness with their pets.
Pet Behavior Counseling
Behavior challenges are a common cause of separation between pets and their people. Roice-Hurst’s experienced behavior team is trained to help navigate these challenges.
Delta Satellite Facility
Roice-Hurst operates a satellite facility in Delta, Colorado, providing care to lost and impounded pets and reuniting more than 100 lost pets with their families each year.
As a local nonprofit, we rely on generous donations from animal lovers like you to fuel the programs that help pets and people in our community.
Foster care is a temporary arrangement in which a shelter pet is cared for in a volunteer’s home prior to adoption. It’s all the fun of having a pet without the long-term commitment!
We simply could not make the impact that we do without the work of our outstanding volunteers. As a Roice-Hurst volunteer, you can choose how and when you give your time to our organization.
